Thug Kitchen: The Official Cookbook: Eat Like You Give a F*ck

Thug Kitchen started their wildly popular web site to inspire people to eat some Goddamn vegetables and adopt a healthier lifestyle. Beloved by Gwyneth Paltrow (“This might be my favorite thing ever”) and named Saveur’s Best New Food blog of 2013—with half a million Facebook fans and counting—Thug Kitchen wants to show everyone how to take charge of their plates and cook up some real f*cking food.

Yeah, plenty of blogs and cookbooks preach about how to eat more kale, why ginger fights inflammation, and how to cook with microgreens and nettles. But they are dull or pretentious as hell--and most people can't afford the hype.

Thug Kitchen lives in the real world. In their first cookbook, they're throwing down more than 100 recipes for their best-loved meals, snacks, and sides for beginning cooks to home chefs. (Roasted Beer and Lime Cauliflower Tacos? Pumpkin Chili? Grilled Peach Salsa? Believe that sh*t.) Plus they're going to arm you with all the info and techniques you need to shop on a budget and go and kick a bunch of ass on your own.

This book is an invitation to everyone who wants to do better to elevate their kitchen game. No more ketchup and pizza counting as vegetables. No more drive-thru lines. No more avoiding the produce corner of the supermarket. Sh*t is about to get real.

How to Eat Sushi: Have you been doing it wrong?

Coming to you straight from a sushi chef’s mouth, MUNCHIES presents the dos and don’ts of eating sushi, as taught by Tokyo’s Naomichi Yasuda. Be warned: You’ve been doing it wrong.

http://www.factfixx.com/2011/09/16/misconceptions-sushi-does-not-mean-raw-fish/

Things to keep in mind:
  • It’s okay to use your fingers to eat cut sushi rolls.
  • Don’t combine ginger and sushi, or ginger and soy sauce. Ginger is a palate cleanser in between bites.
  • When dipping sushi into soy sauce, dip fish-side down.
  • Never shake soy sauce off of sushi. It's considered an insult.

Dan Ariely: The Honest Truth About Dishonesty

Ever ponder... Why we lie, Why we cheat.  There is a new psychological theory of the occurrence.

"Humans lie.  Humans cheat.  We don’t like to think of ourselves as liars and cheaters.  Most of us resist getting flagrant there.  And yet, we all know how that little fudge factor can creep in.  The little cheat.  The little lie.  And sometimes big ones. Why do we do it?  When do we do it?  And what restrains us from doing it a whole lot more?  Behavioral economist Dan Ariely has been looking deeply into the land of lies.  He’s got some new insight on how we try to do right, when we fail to do right. This hour, On Point:  Why we lie.  Why we cheat."
-Tom Ashbrook

Dan Ariely, behavioral economist and the New York Times bestselling author of The Upside of Irrationality and Predictably Irrational, examines the contradictory forces that drive us to cheat and keep us honest, in this groundbreaking look at the way we behave: The (Honest) Truth About Dishonesty.

From ticket-fixing in our police departments to test-score scandals in our schools, from our elected leaders’ extra-marital affairs to the Ponzi schemes undermining our economy, cheating and dishonesty are ubiquitous parts of our national news cycle—and inescapable parts of the human condition.
Drawing on original experiments and research, in the vein of FreakonomicsThe Tipping Point, and Survival of the Sickest, Ariely reveals—honestly—what motivates these irrational, but entirely human, behaviors.
