McD's offers free coffee to attract the breakfast crowd

McDonald's is offering free coffee to its customers for a limited time as competition for the breakfast crowd intensifies and amid a sales slump.

McDonald’s announced  that participating U.S. restaurants Friday that participating U.S. locations will offer small cups of McCafe coffee at no charge during breakfast hours from March 31 through April 13.

According to McDonald's they said that this is the first time it's ever had a free coffee event nationwide. Its McCafe product line, which also includes iced coffees and other drinks, debuted in the U.S. in 2009.

The free coffee announcement came after the March 27 launch of Taco Bell's national breakfast campaign   It also follows four consecutive months of declining sales at McDonald’s established U.S. restaurants. The Oak Brook, Ill., company is hoping that the coffee giveaway will bring in new customers. It's also a way to get existing customers to come in more frequently. And it's likely that those stopping by for a free coffee might be tempted to pick up a breakfast sandwich or other items while there.

Breakfast comprising about 20 percent of its U.S. sales is an important component of McDonald's business.

Goop-ify: What would Gwyneth say?

It's sad to hear that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are separating. This was posted on GOOP in a blog post.  After I read that I ran into Goopify Your Relationship status widget on the Slates' website.  And made this for Chris Martin.

Give this thing a try for yourself.

I leave you with a song from Coldplay...

King of Chinatown

To follow up on the Balrog Highlights: (Mike Tyson Street Fighter parody) post here is on a movie related to Street Fighter.

King of Chinatown takes an in-depth look at the culture of video games, an industry that has evolved into a worldwide, multi-billion dollar phenomenon. Filmmaker Calvin Theobald follows Justin Wong, a video-game prodigy sharpening his skills as he battles challengers in the cutthroat competitive world of Street Fighter IV. But as Justin fights his way through the ranks, he finds himself up against a formidable off-screen challenge -- his allegiance to The Empire, a video-gaming collective run by the charismatic and potentially destructive leader TriForce. Culminating in an epic battle at EVO, the largest video-gaming competition in the world, King of Chinatown shows us the entertaining on-the-ground trials of a Street Fighter IV sensation.

Balrog Highlights: (Mike Tyson Street Fighter parody)

As a huge Street Fighter and Mike Tyson fan I found this funny. If you didn't know that Street Figher's charter Balrog was inspired by/based on Mike Tyson.  CAPCOM might of been afraid of legal issues and named the charter Balrog.  Enjoy...
